Richardson Family -- Edmonton Family Photography

For the last several weeks anytime I have driven out on the rural roads near my house, I have passed field after field of canola, -- and I thought it would be a great place for some photos.  So when the Richardson's asked me to take some family photos for their daughter's upcoming second birthday, I proposed doing some of them in the colourful fields before all the blooms are gone. One thing I didn't think about was potential pollen allergies. Whoops! Mr. R and myself are apparently allergic to canola! It was all good, though.

Baby Zoe - Edmonton Newborn Photography

This little angel is just over a week old and she already has daddy wrapped around her finger. When I arrived at baby Zoe's house, she was fast asleep curled up in daddy's arms.  I said a silent "awww" in my head. It reminded me of my husband and our daughter and their immediate bond during her first week of life. He is still her favorite person in the world!

Zoe was such a good little model for me! I was warned that she doesn't like to be on her stomach, but she didn't give me any trouble. A super soft blanket does wonders. Thanks to Zoe's parents for letting me come capture some first week memories!

Albarda Family - Edmonton Family Photography

Hank Albarda has one of the nicest yards I have ever seen. It definitely puts my two flower pots to shame! But it was a great location for some family photos, which is where I met up with Hank, his daughter Beatrix and their kitty last week. Thanks for having me over!  And sorry I dismantled your sitting room and left before putting the furniture back! I felt guilty about that all weekend. Hope you like the photos!

Here are a couple of bonus photos featuring Kiss Kiss. The last one cracks me up! This was the only way the cat would look at me....holding her head straight to the camera.

Woods Family - Edmonton Family Photography

Here are a few more shots from last week's family session with the Woods family....on the one day of nice weather Edmonton had. Little George's grandparents were visiting from the East Coast and they wanted to get together for some photos. We met at this great playground in the Parkview neighbourhood for a few hours. George wasn't too impressed that we made him wait to get the group photos done before he could play on the slides, as shown in his face in the second photo. And I think Slick (the dog) was staring down a nearby wild rabbit. They are a good looking group!

I love this expression -- it's classic George! I think someone (either Grandpa or Dad) was threatening he'd get tickled unless he started smiling. Sort of worked ;)

Woods Family Sneak Peak - Edmonton Family Photography

A quick little teaser of a family session I did this week.....

Brian and Yolanda - Edmonton Portrait Photography

I met Brian and Yolanda at Hawrelak Park on Victoria Day for some family portraits. We had originally planned to meet on the Saturday, but Mother Nature decided rain and snow would be a better idea. Brian won this photo shoot through a local radio station's fund-raising Christmas breakfast last year. In fact we spent a lot of time talking about all the radio contest's he has won over the years!  Pretty cool! The only contests I seem to win are at trade shows, and the free house cleaning  prize turns out to be a three hour long spiel  to get me to buy a vacuum cleaner. That "prize" was like the bad date that wouldn't end!

This little family was splashing in the Hawrelak Park pond, while I was waiting for the Brian and Yolanda to arrive. I think these are Common Golden Eye ducks. Had to consult my Birds of Alberta book. The little babies are sure cute!  It was funny to watch them dive under the water and then they would pop back up like a cork.

Baby Everett - Edmonton Newborn Photography

This little guy was so fun to photograph and he was my first session back after a self-imposed  two month  break. I might as well out myself .....I am pregnant with our second child, and I have been VERY sick with this one. The official term is Hyperemsis Gravidarum and it's pretty awful. I literally didn't take a single picture of anything all last month! But I am doing much better and have been able to return to work, starting with Baby Everett.  So enough about me!

I forgot how tiny newborns are! Everett was so sweet. He was such a quiet little baby and has the cutest  pouty bottom lip! While I was editing these photos, my 19-month-old would point at the screen  and say "baby" and "nigh night". It was cute.

I love the little smile in the first photo. Wonder what he's dreaming about?

Baby Oliver - Edmonton Baby Photography

Here are some more photos from this week's photo session with little Oliver. He's got such a great smile!  And a special thank you to my husband's best friend for letting me use his giant Starbucks mug. I love the look Oliver is giving in the mug photo. It says to me "Yeah I'm sitting in a giant mug. What's it to yah?"  Three months old and already giving a little attitude! I've known Oliver's parents for a few years now...mommy and I used to play soccer (and we went on a girls only trip to Vegas before children) and I think daddy used to be my soccer coach. I know you will both have a tonne of fun watching your little man grow up!

Sykes Family - Spruce Grove/Edmonton Family Photographer

I've known the Sykes family for years -- twenty plus at least! Last year their youngest daughter and her family moved to Australia. They came back to Canada for a few weeks over the holidays, unfortunately timing their arrival with that horrible coldsnap last month. I imagine that was quite a shock to the system, walking outside for the first time after spending a year in a much warmer climate! However, I like the fact that the cold weather in our country means that the freaky bugs that live in Australia would never survive here. Yuck! Anyway, before they had to return down under the entire family got together for a group photo; all eighteen of them, including eight grandkids! (The second photo is of the Aussie-Canadians)

Kelly - Sherwood Park Maternity Photography

Meet a beautiful mom-to-be! Kelly and her husband Preston are expecting their second little bundle in a few weeks and wanted to capture some family moments. They were a lot of fun to photograph. I asked "how about some pictures in a tree?"  So she and her little boy climbed right up there! And he did what two year olds do best...make a funny face. I'll can't wait to meet your baby next month!

Davies Family - Spruce Grove Family Photography

I had the pleasure of photographing the Davies family...and all their children and grandchildren....who had come together from across the country & the States for a special family event. The patriach and matriach have two beautiful apple trees in their front yard and they requested photos of their beautiful family in front of them.
